    week 39+ reflections…

we were hoping we would have enough time to take a few more pics before our daughter arrived, so we headed off to some picturesque seattle locales.
and the above pic is by FAR my favorite of the pics we took, as the weight of carrying a human life (literally) inside of you is worn clearly on viv’s face. 🙂
through the day, she was (and continues to be) an AWESOME sport! i learn so much from her on how to enjoy the journey of life (not only arriving at self-designated checkpoints) and i look forward growing old and decrepit together with her.
anyway, if you don’t see or hear from us for a bit, “K.I.T.“, “have a great summer” and “stay cool and don’t change for anyone“.  class of 2010 ROCKS!  😉

FYI: useful tip #27 for a pregnant belly:

You should put the nice pics next to the tongue sticking out one and frame it….haha… Good luck on the labor. Just hit George in the arm each time the contractions get bad. It will make ME feel better if you do….

    worship setlist @ Q – 2010.07.18…

went ol’ skool this past worship leading.
had to be the lone representative of the “song” clan as it has been getting more challenging moving around w/ the baby…
no recording of the set yet, but once i get it, i’ll post… “humble King” led by jin was MONEY!
tim s. on the piano during the first song was seriously SICK.
and the kids ministry led by pastor katey ROCKED “His banner“… 🙂

    worship setlist @ Q – 2010.06.20…

this worship posting took a little longer than i would’ve liked as i tried to do something different… i decided to record the worship on HD vid! hopefully when our daughter’s born she can see her mama + papa for the rockstars they truly are!  just kidding! 😉
this most recent leading was such an immense blessing… to be leading on my first father’s day as an expecting dad!
now that i lead once a month, i also had the luxury of having two midweek practices before the sunday we led. it definitely helped getting together midweek to just jam and have a time to hang with this talented group of players.
am hoping to repeat this before my next time leading.
and one of the songs that had been on my heart for quite some time was delirious’rain down“… though i feared that this song would seem odd to do in the middle of summer. but seeing as how we live in seattle, when we started this song, no rain… when we finished it was raining outside! how crazy is that?
and for the optimal viewing experience, change the  “360p” setting to “720p HD“!

anyway, available now for your listening AND viewing pleasure.

    worship setlist @ Q – 2010.05.16…

falling into a monthly rotation here @ Quest, this past sunday was the first to be able to lead my church community alongside my wife + baby… i am blessed!
for other worship leaders, what does your worship practice look like (mid-week practice, singers v. instrumentalist practice, etc.)?

if you would like to listen, here’s the rough recording taken straight out from the board:

    when i grow up…

i hope to be as good a guitar player as this 12-year old (either that or i’m going to throw my taylor away and give up :()!
as a 9 year-old, sungha jung learned to play guitar while watching trace bundy (i have never seen anyone use more capos than this guy!) on youtube and the rest, as they say, is history…
now he’s here in the u.s. on tour playing together with trace. how cool is that?
anyway, joseph + i had the pleasure of being @ the triple door (an uber-cool venue, btw!) to record this magical night of music!
here’s a clip of them deciding to do an impromptu rendition of u2’s “with or without you“…
    enjoy!

@Daniel Azuma: sungha said it takes him a few day to learn an arrangement/song… that’s sick. 😐

Hey how tall are you? How tall is Sungha? Sorry just wanna know..

@mindy: i’m 6’4″ on good days (5’5″ on other ;))… i would say sungha’s 5’3″? but then again, he’s only 12 and probably has more growing to do.

but sungha jung tall is 177cm!…tall right?…:-)

@missallaneous: still think of your awesome piano playing skillz (to be able to play any worship songs on the spot!)…

    congrats: rosana + mike…

had the privilege of helping joseph with the wedding of these two cool peeps/dentists on 10.10.09…
i have never been to an egyptian/chinese wedding before in my life, but can now cross it off on my ‘bucket list’.
when joseph and i were in the bride’s room as she was getting prepped, i almost dropped my camera when i heard the mother walk in and begin to holler at the top of her lungs… i thought she had either burned her hand on a hot curling iron or something crazy extreme, i mean seriously, i thought someone died!
then, the other women in the room began to join her in the hollering (about 1:00 min into the video) and i was sure hotel security was going to knock down the door any second to see if we were all still alive.

now i know that screaming at times can help relieve tension (More …)

    marination mobile…

    we came:

    we saw:

and we conquered (kalbi tacos + kimchee fried rice w/ kalbi):

i thought the fried rice w/ kimchee was a bit too oily (though some could argue good food can never be too oily!) but the kalbi taco was awesome!
overall, good grub from marination mobile!
i’ll have to try the aloha sliders next time, heard it’s yummy.
definitely worth checking out, you can also follow them on twitter: @curb_cuisine
