    worship setlist @ Q – 2010.12.05…

man, i was SOOOO pumped for this worship set!
for starts, i love this time of the year… being in the season of advent and also b/c i was scheduled and able to lead a christmas-centric setlist.  😀
wish i had a couple hours to more songs (maybe next year)!
i had a few musical tricks to try out for “o come, o come, Emmanuel” and “joy to the world“, and i was also looking forward to jin paying homage to celine dion’s rendition of “o holy night“.

    merry christmas everyone!

    worship setlist @ Q – 2007.12.23

    welcome/opening set:

    • * o come, all ye faithless [G] by john francis wade, music by frederick oakley/lyrical tweak by jessica hong
    • o holy night [A] by john s. dwight; music by adolphe charles adam
    • Majesty (here i am) [A] by martin smith & stuart garrard

    • silent night [Am] by joseph mohr; music by franz gruber

    offeratory/closing song:

    • joy to the world [D] by isaac watts; music by george frederick handel

and, you read the title right… * O Come, All Ye FAITHLESS…

penned by none other than our very own jessica hong! the first time i heard this, she performed/shared it during our Q cafe’s anniversary celebration. i was in shock when I first heard this classic being re-arranged. i was like:

“WHAT?!? how dare she! this is a classic!!!” :O

but then, as i got past my silly self, and stopped and started to listen to the lyrics, i was moved to tears as i realized this song/carol no longer was something i sung along to countless times growing up, but in an epiphanous moment, became a carol i sang as if it was my own story… depicting what i currently am, not what i yet want to become/am striving to be (and keep failing miserably in becoming, for some reason…)!

please read. let it soak in. sing, choir of sinners!

“o come, all ye faithless, doubtful and disheartened

come and be honest, come in all your brokenness.”

“sing, choirs of sinners, sing of your redemption!

glory to God… all glory in the highest!”

yeah, that blew me away as well when she sang at the Q party.

with all the insane musical talent at Quest…I’m thinking you all should record….so the rest of us non-talented musical ones can enjoy on a regular basis….hehe 🙂
