    congrats tory + phil…

had a wonderful opportunity today to help out my dear friend, joseph jang shoot a wedding video (and not be a wedding singer for a change! ;)) for a fun couple, tory + phil.
though it was gloom + doom rain/poop weather saturday, God really blessed these two lovebirds and provided them with an awesome day!
they were such cool people and had such a cool story… and God’s hands upon their lives/their relationship was so evident.
being involved on their special day was so nostalgic and reminded me of my wedding day (almost a year ago already!)… and how much fun vivien + i had.
no wonder the ghkims (who shot our wedding), john + josephs (helped shoot our engagement), jane lees (who shot our engagement), leo chens + corey hages of the world love doing this! not to sound cliche, but it’s such an honor to help  a couple on their blessed day and to capture this moment so they can remember it for a lifetime!
and as a special treat to the married couple, joseph was able to compile all the video shot and provide a SDE (same day edit) video for them to enjoy during the reception. the look of surprise/shock on their face was worth it all!
so if you’re getting married (or know someone who is) and want a kick-A videographer give him a buzz!

youngest person to attempt solo sailing crashes… on day 1!

    from the http://www.dailytelegraph.com/au:

Jessica Watson, 16, set sail on Ella’s Pink Ladyfrom Queensland’s Sunshine Coast yesterday morning after more than a year of preparation.

The Sunshine Coast schoolgirl was attempting become the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted around the world.

A spokesman for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said her yacht collided with a bulk carrier shortly before 2.30am, about 15 nautical miles due east of Point Lookout, on North Stradbroke Island.

more than a year of preparation?
and then less than 24 hours into her journey and that close to home, she collides into a bulk carrier?
not sure how big a “bulk carrier” is… maybe it was in stealth mode.  who knows?
will see if more info. is released later describing what happened… maybe it’s common running into bulk carriers.

btw, i saw discovery channel’s swords: life on the line last night, crazy sick what those guys go through!

texting while you drive, do you…?

i’m guilty of this… but am hoping to change my ways.

i learned to keep my hands on the steering wheel at the “10” and “2” position at all times when i took driver’s ed many, many years ago and still do it even to this day. back then, the reality of distractors such as eating and talking/texting on (let alone owning) a cell phone wasn’t even imaginable…
but now? anything goes. though i’ve seen people do some crazy things while driving (reading, putting on makeup, making out even, etc…) i’ll focus on texting/phone usage.
it’s amazing what cell phones + 3G can bring to our fingertips: texts, emails, traffic conditions, 3-d navigation, sports score, google search! inundated with such a wealth of information! though it is useful it can be overwhelming and ultimately distracting.
i used to text quite frequently while driving… even responding to emails! heck, i’m typing this blog entry right now while on i-5! 😉 just kidding.
my loving wife constantly reminds me not to do this, but unfortunately i still slip and occasionally send texts which i have to convince myself (and her) are “important” and deemed necessary to send at that moment.
    her response? (More …)
