proposals. some right, others terribly wrong…

big congrats to tim‘s proposal to tiffany (TNT)!
gotta hand it to him, he truly is the man.  if you look at the picture/how it all went down… you’ll see it’s quite the engagement proposal!
(and kudos to ghkim for shooting/capturing the moment! imagine, being in the presence of 4 photographers!!!)

but then to balance things out, you have this guy. when i read the story, i knew where it was heading. at first, i was laughing, then i felt bad when i saw the response of his ummm… non-understanding ‘potential’ fiancee?
….Hajji, of Hackney, east London, had concealed a $12,000 engagement ring inside a helium balloon. The idea was that she would pop the balloon as he popped the question.

But as he left the shop, a gust of wind pulled the balloon from his hand and he watched the ring — and quite possibly the affections of his girlfriend — sailing away over the rooftops…

    worship setlist @ Q – 2008.03.23 (easter sunday)

easter sunday. what a great time for the community to come celebrate. i must confess it’s always weird seeing PE come dressed up in suit the one time a year he does. 😉
but like he mentions in his more recent blog entry, whether there is a egg hunt, special musical production w/ live animals… it’s important to be reminded of the message of the gospel. one of his best messages i’ve heard (and trust me… in the last 8+ years i’ve heard just about every one of ’em). if you want to listen, go check it out on our church’s website.

    Christ is risen!

    welcome/opening set:

city of seattle won’t buy bottled water… bout time!!!

i’m proud of you seattle (though i wished you did this way earlier!).
    from the seattle times:
To cut down on trash and help the environment, the city of Seattle will stop buying bottled water, Mayor Greg Nickels announced Thursday.

The city could save as much as $58,000 a year, officials said, by not purchasing bottled water for events or water-cooler jugs for its workers.

“It is to really highlight the fact that Seattle has one of the best municipal water supplies in the country,” said Marty McOmber, the mayor’s spokesman. “When you look at the cost of bottled water, both in terms of financial costs and costs on the environment, it’s a pretty clear choice that using city water is a much better choice.”

Nickels on the Thursday signed an executive order, which says that producing bottles for U.S. consumers required more than 17 million barrels of oil, not including the fuel required to transport the bottles. Only one of 10 bottles is recycled, according to the city’s announcement.

The mayor also said that bottled water costs about $8 per gallon, compared to a gallon of tap water that costs a fraction of a penny.

Tap water in Seattle comes from the rain and snowpack in Cedar River and Tolt River watersheds, which are protected natural areas.

City workers still will be allowed to bring bottled water to work. Vendors who operate on city property, such as KeyArena and Seattle Center, will still be allowed to sell bottled water. The city also will make exceptions in emergencies.”

    worship setlist @ Q – 2008.03.09 + global day of prayer for burma…

this sunday was global day of prayer for burma.
we had a chance to play a recording during communion, a couple from our church recorded while on a summer visionary trip with some church staff back in the summer of 2006 to thailand/burma.
after we finshed playing the recording, our church joined alongside them by singing the same song, ‘trust and obey‘.  it was our small attempt to be part of a larger/worldwide church community.  to be reminded that our lives are SO much more than just about our own needs and priorities.
    good read from david’s blog.

    welcome/opening set:
    – the love of God [key of D] by frederick m. lehman
    – trust [key of D to G] by matt slocum

    – trust and obey [key of F] by j.h. sammis.  recording was done by karen bible college students in refugee camp…

    offeratory/closing song:
    – Your love, oh Lord [key of G] by brad avery, david carr, mac powell, mark lee & tai anderson

    worship setlist @ Q – 2008.03.02

had a chance to do something a little different with ‘still‘…
we broke into an instrumental interlude and allowed the song to breathe while the church begin to just repeat together psalm 46.10:
be still and know He is holy.
He is exalted among the nations,
He is exalted over the earth.’

    very cool.
and PE was able to share the recent announcement to the larger church! 🙂

    welcome/opening set:

    • reign in me [key of C] by brenton brown & paul baloche
    • still [key of C] by reuben morgan

    – hungry (falling on my knees) [key of C] by kathryn scott

    • humble King [key of F#] by brenton brown

    offertory/closing song:

    • praise to the Lord [key of F#] by bob fitts

what about you? i’m curious to hear about other ministry’s setlist!
