  • where in the world… (part 2)?

    are viv + i?
    namaste…
    nama-stah,
    ma-ma-coo-sa from nepal!

definitely a dream destination (more so for vivien + her love for outdoor adventure than i). the sights were spectacular and awe-inspiring… how could one look at it all and not acknowledge the Creator?

    the places:

    • kathmandu (1400m/4593ft)
    • pokhara (910m/2986ft) – a short 25min flight from kathmandu.
    • phedi (950m/3116ft) – starting point of our 6-day trek with a gazillion stone steps and insane incline grade!
we were blessed to have our guide: manoj + our porter: kumar. over the journey they became more like family! while we had our hiking boots, performance gear attire, trekking poles and only carrying day packs… kumar wore nike tennis shoes, jeans, a button-up shirt, used NO poles and carried our 35lb. backpack through some sick terrain. he saved our lives (and our backs… literally).
** note: am thankful for international porter protection group (i.p.p.g.) and hope they continue to look out/care for the porters. and in the future, we hope trekkers will have enough porters for the gear they bring as to not overload/work and pose potential harm to them!
    • tolka (1790m/5872ft) – first night’s stay. having no electricity at this teahouse, viv + i, ended up going to sleep at 7pm! one of the most restful nights of sleep i ever had! only took going to nepal to find it. who would’ve thunk it?
    • ghandruk (2020m/6627ft) – imagine having this view while eating breakfast!

I am insanely envious. I tried to get to Nepal in late spring/early summer of 2007 – but alas, my subletter had left before I could finish my Asia travels and my kitties were home alone.

@SuJ’n: actually, you were one of my early influences! seeing all your travels to different asian countries gave me the travel bug! hope you get a chance to go to nepal!

    we came:

    we saw:

and we conquered (kalbi tacos + kimchee fried rice w/ kalbi):

i thought the fried rice w/ kimchee was a bit too oily (though some could argue good food can never be too oily!) but the kalbi taco was awesome!
overall, good grub from marination mobile!
i’ll have to try the aloha sliders next time, heard it’s yummy.
definitely worth checking out, you can also follow them on twitter: @curb_cuisine

it finally happened.  i decided to join the twitter-verse.
we’ll see how long it lasts… but having a limit of 140 characters and being able to send a text message from my phone definitely makes it easier to do.
i’m still holding out against facebook, myspace and whatever other social networking sites.
don’t want to drink too much of the ‘kool-aid‘ at once.  ;)

    He is risen indeed!
    resurrection

    Lord, forgive me…
as i reflect on this day the lengths You went for me:

i am disgusted by my mediocrity,
i am humbled by Your mercy, grace, and forgiveness
i praise You for defeating death and the grave!
i desire to experience constant and continual change,
i commit to living for You (but will unfortunately fail… a lot)
    .

    thank you, Lord.

was blessed to be a part of quest’s joint easter service.
it felt weird not being involved w/ the logistical planning of this off-site service after all these years, but equally relaxing to come/participate and be free to worship, engage and fellowship.
and to look around and see our church come together for one combined service was a bit surreal… having 500+ folks inside the school gymnasium.
worship was outstanding… a big hi-five to the ministry and the team for ushering such beautiful and melodic sounds to those in attendance!

and now that lent is over, i am considering making “beer-ola-fee” a permanent fast…

  • whatever you give a woman, she will make greater…

georgesong 2:35 am on March 17, 2009 Permalink | Reply

i got this email from my wife today.  made me laugh for hours…  :)

whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.
if you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby.
if you give her a house, she’ll give you a home.
if you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal.
if you give her a smile,  she’ll give you her heart.
she multiples and enlarges what is given to her.

so, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of s@#t!
